FBM PDF Converter is a program used for converting PDF documents to files that can be opened with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Adobe Flash or Image tools.
I should warn you from the very start that this app runs only with Ghostscript installed on your computer. It has a friendly interface. The commands are as simple as possible and they are placed right where you expect them to be.
The results are excellent when creating PPT or Adobe Flash files, since they extract image-like content out of PDFs. In other words, no matter if the source file contains text, pictures or tables, everything remains in place. On the other hand, when creating a Word document, the results are accurate only with text content. In case the initial PDF provides images or tables besides text, the results are not as you would expect them to be. The elements of each page are slightly mixed up, so you need to put them back together by yourself.
Regarding the image outputs, you may convert only to 4 formats, namely PEG, BMP, TIFF, and PNG. Here you have the possibility to make some settings with reference to quality and colors. In addition, there is the 'Hot Directory Mode' feature which allows the program to run in the background, but not before selecting the input and output directories.
The good news is that the whole process doesn't take long, no matter what kind of file you have decided to create. However, I had an unpleasant surprise when after starting the conversion of a PDF document to get Flash, and then Word files, the program showed me that the process was done, but actually no file was created. This probably happened because the PDF file might have had special characters, and the program didn't recognize them.
